  • Stopped by this stop while in the area and I love it. Great selection of not just seafood but complimentary items as well. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Will be back.

    -Adam L.

  • This has become our go to store for seafood and a lot of other great food products. Love the staff, they are always happy to help!

    -Diane T.

  • I’ve never met anyone with such an enormous passion (and the skills) for selling only the freshest fish available! Try Brookies and you’ll be hooked!

    -Jeff S.

  • Best ahi tuna in town!

    -Scotty T.

  • This place was suggested by a butcher at a local coop so I drove right over. I only eat fish but the seafood selection seems to thoroughly cover all the bases. The gentleman who helped me was pretty dang awesome and even offered to slice off the skin from my steelhead trout, which BTW, was the best I've ever tasted.

    -Denis D.

  • Bought a variety of fish for sashimi preparation. The owner was helpful and friendly. Store is very clean and doesn’t have a “fishy” smell. My fish was excellent and enjoyed by all. Will be returning again!

    -Eddie Z.

Chris Nelson, who grew up in northern Minnesota has been in the fresh fish and seafood industry since 1998. Chris got his feet wet (or should we say, started developing his gills) at Morey’s Market and Grill in Brainerd Minnesota.

For the next 8 years he embraced his new passion and love for the fish and seafood industry in a retail setting.

In 2020 Chris decided to put a plan in place to get back to his first passion in this industry, retail sales, and he decided he wanted to try doing it on his own.

Meet Mikel

Mikel has a long standing love of working with food.

Mikel brings with him over 8 years of experience working with seafood and gourmet products at Kowalskis, Coastal Seafoods, and Fortune Fish and Gourmet. He’s also spent the last few years traveling across both the east and west coast eating oysters and gathering inspiration from various seafood markets which he is excited to bring to Brookies!

When he’s not slanging fish at the market you can find him playing in his local band, enjoying the twin cities culinary scene with his wife, Kayla, and adventuring in the great Minnesota outdoors with his four legged best friend, Quinn.

Meet Mohamed

FISH LOVER | FISH ROMANTIC | AVID ANGLER

For as long as Mohamed can remember he has loved all things fishy. His passion for learning everything he could about seafood drove him into the retail fish market industry. He promptly developed his knowledge and mongering skillset at the famously known, Coastal Seafoods Markets. Over the last 5 years he has become one of Minneapolis’ most respected and skillful fish mongers. If he is not working behind the counter at Brookies Fish Market there is a strong chance you could find him on a local river bank or lake casting out a line.
